If you live or work in Rhode Island, we strongly encourage you to join the Association of Fundraising Professionals Rhode Island Chapter. We also welcome into our chapter members who work in southeastern Massachusetts who find the trip to RI more convenient than a trek to Boston.
Membership Categories and Fees are as follows:
- Professional Membership is $300 per member (this amount includes the $50 RI Chapter dues)
- Associate Membership is $300 per member.

Great Networking and Professional Advancement Opportunities
Networking Breakfasts – FREE for Members ! Our friendly and informal gatherings provide an opportunity for current or prospective AFP members to meet each other, learn about ways to get involved with the chapter, explore new job opportunities, local fundraising developments and of course, allow for great networking. These breakfasts are held 5 times during the year at different sites around RI.
Speaking and training opportunities – We encourage the participation of seasoned professionals to serve as speakers, trainers, mentors, and discussion leaders at our workshops, Fundraising Day and other events. Contact firstname.lastname@example.org for more information.
Leadership opportunities – Whether you’re just starting our or a seasoned professional, we offer opportunities for you to work with and learn from your peers by helping to plan and execute chapter programs and events, serve as a mentor and serve on the chapter Board of Directors.
Certification Preparation – We strongly encourage members to pursue certification, both the CFRE http://www.cfre.org and the ACFRE credentials. Every recommended study book for the CFRE exam has been purchased by the Chapter and is available in the CLAN statewide library system. If you are interested, we’ll help organize study sessions and assist you in the preparation of the CFRE application. Two Rhode Island chapter members hold the ACFRE and are available to provide advice and encouragement to individuals seeking this rigorous credential. Local Watchdog for Philanthropy Legislation
We alert members whenever legislative changes are proposed that would be harmful to the practice and promotion of ethical fundraising and philanthropy in RI. AFP members have helped prevent bills that would have required RI nonprofits to disclose their donor lists, be unable to receive gifts in person from a donor, and unduly burdened nonprofits with unwanted speech in phone solicitations.
